Eversewn is one of the newer brands in the sewing machine market. They have teamed up with Crown Technics, who have over 20 years experience in producing sewing machines.
The Chicago-based company focuses on producing products which align with current trends. They look at how they can be incorporated into the lifestyle of modern and emerging sewing enthusiasts.
One of four machines in the Sparrow range, the EverSewn Sparrow 25 is a good option for beginners and an excellent lightweight machine for the more experienced sewist.
Let’s take a look at what it has to offer.
This distinctive machine sports a trendy red and white design with the sparrow logo on the front. Weighing less than 14 lbs., it is easily transportable to sewing classes or when traveling.
Lightweight does not necessarily mean flimsy – it has a metal frame which gives it a sturdy feel. This keeps the machine stable, even when being used at its highest stitch speed of 850 stitches per minute. (See more portable sewing machines here.)
This computerized sewing machine is the top of the sparrow range and has a backlit LCD screen on the front. Stitch selection is made by number after referring to two charts which slide out from the bottom right-hand side of the machine. There is also a quick selection option for the most popular utility stitches.
A total of 197 stitches are available, including: 14 utility stitches, 2 darning stitches 58 decorative stitches, and 18 quilting stitches. There are 7 one-step buttonholes and also an eyelet stitch for making things such as belt holes. Stitches can be set for up to 7mm in width and 4.5mm in length.
It also has a full alphabet of 97 characters in both uppercase and lowercase, as well as numbers and a few symbols. It does, however, only offer one font.

A start/stop button controls the machine’s power as well as a sliding speed control for hands-free sewing. All you need to do is lightly guide the material.
The buttons controlling reverse, needle up and down, and autolock are all easily accessible on the front of the machine.
The bobbin is a drop in style and it has an automatic needle threader. Handy for those of us that don’t see quite as clearly as we used to. There is also an LED sewing light to illuminate the working area. There is a thread cutter mounted on the side of the machine above the needle.
The Sparrow 25 has a choice of seven feet: a zipper foot, zigzag foot, buttonhole foot, blind stitch foot, overlock foot, button sew-on foot, and an embroidery foot. To sew multiple layers the presser foot can be raised and there is also an adjustment to enable free-arm sewing.
The machine has a twin needle function, this especially useful for embroidery and when creating hems and sleeves. The needle also has 15 positions available for you to choose from.
What Is the Customer Feedback?
There are many positive customer reviews about this machine, which hold with my personal experience.
The stitching this EverSewn model produces is of a good quality, in fact, it’s comparable to that produced by similarly priced premium-brand machines. After all, the most important quality attributed to a sewing machine is its ability to sew well.
Features such as the automatic needle threader, speed control, needle up/down button, and stop/start button make this machine easy to use. There is also an optional electronic foot control should you decide you prefer this method.
If quilting is your thing, this machine can easily handle smaller projects. The feed dogs lower easily and the needle up and down function will give you extra space to move your fabric around.
The Sparrow 25 is a versatile machine making easy work of general sewing, hemming, alterations, and clothes making. It can also be used, as mentioned before, for quilting and embroidery.
Of the many features, portability is definitely a big plus. The sturdy but lightweight design is perfect for going to a sewing class or a workshop. It’s also easy to take the machine with you when traveling. It has a handy built-in pop-out accessory drawer to store essential sewing bits and bobs.
Along with the positives, there are bound to be negatives. But in the case of this machine, there are very few.
The lack of an automatic thread cutter is one thing missing, however it’s certainly not a deal breaker. Beginners might also find the machine a little advanced at first, but there are many tutorials on the company website to help.
There are accessories available for quilting projects, but, they come at an extra cost and are not included.
Final Thoughts on the EverSewn Sparrow 25
This versatile machine is undoubtedly a good choice for intermediate and experienced sewing enthusiasts. Its many features are capable of dealing with most of the sewing tasks you’re likely to want to complete.
Another added bonus is its portability, now you can attend those important sewing workshops without having to lug a heavy and cumbersome machine with you.
