Husqvarna is a famous Swedish company, one of the best-known companies in the country. Founded in 1689, as a royal arms factory, Husqvarna has become a household name in Sweden. They have started producing sewing machines in the late 19th century.
Intriguing history, however, is not all that this company has to offer. Their current products are a blend of high functionality, unique design and great performance.
The Jade 35 is a lightweight and portable yet powerful combination machine. Below is our review of this unique, underrated product.
- SEWING ADVISOR Feature: Learn from a built-in assistant to help guide and resolve common sewing and embroidery questions

Design and Functionality
What instantly stands out about the Jade 35 is the carrying case or rather the lack of it – the machine itself acts as a carrying case, as it can be mounted and locked in place, along with the accessories. This is certainly a unique solution, something we haven’t seen before and a testament to Husqvarna’s originality.
Needless to say, this makes the machine highly portable and easy to move and carry around. On top of that, the Jade 35 weighs only 9 pounds (about 4 kilos).
Once removed, the case reveals a workspace with an almost overwhelming number of buttons and a large (dimensions: 240x150mm or 9½″x6″) embroidery area. At a glance, the Jade 35 comes across as a high-end, professional embroidery/sewing machine, which is certainly a pleasant surprise, if nothing else.
The large sewing space of 200 millimetres (7.87 inches) allows sewing large quilts, as well as home decorations projects and garments. Placed on the right of the needle, the large sewing area allows a lot of manoeuvre space and guarantees a comfortable sewing experience.
PC software is also included and it allows the user to combine embroidery designs, as well as create their own, among other things. The integrated software is great and it can definitely come in handy, especially if you’re a beginner, but if you want to purchase additional embroidery software you’ll have to pay for it more than you’ve paid for the machine itself – it is ridiculous overpriced.
This is probably the biggest con of this fine model.
A decent number of accessories also comes with the machine, the most important one being the Jewel Hoop (240 x 15). When it comes to presser feet, the list is fairly impressive and it includes:
Utility Foot A, Decorative Stitch Foot B, Buttonhole Foot C, Blindhem Foot D, Zipper Foot E, Edging Foot J, Embroidery/Darning Foot U, One-Step Buttonhole Foot, Self-Adhesive Glide Plate
Below is a list of other accessories:
Thread net, Edge guide, Felt pad (2), Bobbins (5, one is on the machine), Screwdriver, Auxiliary spool pin, Seam ripper, Brush, Screwdriver for needle plate, Spool cap (small), Spool cap (large), USB embroidery stick with embroidery designs and HUSQVARNA VIKING DESIGNER JADE 35 sampler book, long needle clamp screw, Foot control, Power cord, Needles.
The Jade 35 also features 70 different embroidery designs, Embroidery font (in three different sizes) and 120 stitches.
It’s safe to say that the Jade 35 is an accomplished machine, at least regarding design. It’s practical, has a lot of accessories and features, it is very beginner-friendly and easy to use. But, how does all of that relate to performance? More about that below.
The Sewing Advisor feature is another nice addition. It makes using the Jade 35 effortlessly easy for beginners. All the user needs to do is select fabric type and sewing technique. After that, the machine instantly sets everything up (best stitch, stitch width, stitch length and thread tension), providing advice on the screen at the same time.
The high embroidery speed of 700 stiches per minute is another good thing about the Jade 35. In fact, it is one of the best things about it – this is a fast embroidery/sewing machine that works faster than most machines on the market. However, actual time can vary, depending on hoop and embroidery type.
In conclusion, the Jade 35 performs well and doesn’t have any major flaws that could potentially ruin the overall user experience. However, one can’t help but wonder if it’s really worth the money?
In our opinion, it is. The additional software though, is definitely not.
- Dimensions: 18.2 x 7.5 x 12.4 inches (length x width x height)

- Number of fonts: 1 (in different sizes)
- Embroidery area dimensions (hoop size): 9.5 x 6 inches
- Maximum Embroidery Speed (Stitches Per Minute): 700
- Good performance
- Expensive additional software
- Not for every budget
Our rating: 7.5/10
Final Verdict: A Solid Machine, But Not for Every Budget
The embroidery machine market is desperate for invention and innovation, even though some say it’s blooming. The fact that a well-known company has decided to take the risk of producing a unique, eclectic device is a good sign.
High quality, durability, great design and good performance are there, but so is the high price.
It may not be for every budget, but the Husqvarna Viking Designer Jade 35 is a solid machine. The additional software is terribly overpriced, but the Jade 35 works perfectly fine without it.
